Artist's Statement

I paint as a means to resolve a thought. In a world of infinite uncertainties, art renders a greater sense of clarity. Art offers a unique opportunity to express the complexity of human emotion. Art, however, is an interpretive language. I have found that each who chooses to engage with work will have a unique experience.

My work is an attempt to relay mood to the viewer. I paint quickly to capture the fleeting thoughts and emotion of a singular moment. I paint impulsively from stroke to stroke; reacting to the inherent sense of form or space that exists within a textured brush stroke or sweep of my palette knife. I am attempting to craft images that utilize gestured forms and color in a manner that renders the product visually ambiguous while still relaying mood.

I find my process to be meditative. As I consider my works I discover new patterns and correlations between my emotional state and the final product. As a result, I am continually becoming more sensitive and aware of my subjectivity.
